As the clock ticks to 2023, Porsche enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the brand’s 75th anniversary. And what better way to commemorate than with the stunning new Vision 357 concept, designed by the Style Porsche Team as a tribute to the automaker’s first model, the 356?
With its sleek and modern design, the Vision 357 is a true fusion of past, present, and future. The car’s proportions are reminiscent of the original 356 but with a futuristic twist. The most striking feature is the absence of door handles, which have been cleverly concealed in the rear side glass. And in a nod to the latest technology, the concept car is equipped with cameras instead of traditional side mirrors.
The front and back portions of the car are equally striking, with hidden lights behind perforations in the body panels and the third brake light integrated into the rear grille motif. These are just some of the many design elements that pay homage to the original 356 while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in automotive design.
“The Vision 357 is a true celebration of Porsche’s heritage and a glimpse into the brand’s future,” said Michael Mauer, Style Porsche’s vice president. “We’re proud to be able to reinterpret the 356 for the modern era and create a car that truly embodies the Porsche spirit.”
With its seamless blend of classic and contemporary design, the Vision 357 will surely be a hit with Porsche enthusiasts and car lovers alike. So, mark your calendars for 2023, and get ready to celebrate Porsche’s 75th anniversary in style.
The Vision 357 seamlessly blends the classic and contemporary with its sleek and aerodynamic design. The windshield, a distinctive feature of the early 356s, has been reimagined with a bold, black A-pillar that seamlessly unites the three window elements, creating a striking helmet visor-like effect. The 20-inch magnesium wheels, with their carbon-fiber hubcaps, are not just aesthetically pleasing but also provide an aerodynamic advantage, adding to the car’s dynamic and sporty appeal.
The Porsche glistened in the sunlight, its sleek lines and aggressive stance commanding attention. The Ice Gray Metallic paint covered the majority of the car, while the Grivola Gray Metallic accentuated the front bumper, giving the car a striking two-tone finish. The “75” decals on the doors and hood were a bold statement, while the “357” stickers on the front fenders and rear fascia added a subtle touch of elegance. The air intakes on the rear side windows were marked with “Air” decals and arrows, a nod to the car’s impressive performance capabilities. With their bluish hue and ceramic interiors, the titanium tailpipes were the cherry on top, expelling the car’s exhaust with a satisfying roar.
Vision 357 is a bold and striking concept focusing on aesthetics over performance. But make no mistake, beneath its sleek exterior lies the heart of a beast – a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine borrowed from the 718 Cayman GT4 RS. This powerful engine “theoretically” generates a staggering 493 horsepower (362 kilowatts), enough to make any gearhead drool.
Porsche has also taken the future of fuel into consideration, designing the mid-mounted powertrain to be compatible with synthetic fuels. While the company has not yet announced plans to bring this concept to production, it’s clear that Vision 357 is a glimpse into the exciting possibilities of Porsche’s design and engineering capabilities.
