‘Let’s Explore the World’ with the new Toyota Yaris, manufactured by the world’s largest automaker, Toyota Motor Corporation. Introduced back in 1998, this subcompact car is currently in its third generation. The first generation Yaris was offered in three body styles namely a hatchback (Vitz), a coupe and a sedan (Platz). However, the coupe version was discontinued after the first generation of production. The second generation sedan was named the Toyota Belta, which has since been replaced by the third generation Toyota Yaris sedan, named Toyota Vios. The good news for Pakistani customers is, Toyota has plans to launch Vios here soon.
None of these models of the Toyota Yaris are officially available through Toyota Indus, the authorized manufacturer, dealer and distributor of Toyota vehicles in Pakistan. The lack of their official availability notwithstanding, all models of the Yaris are imported into the country and enjoy great popularity in the local market. You can find imported Toyota Yaris sedan and hatchback throughout Pakistan. The Yaris hybrid is only available in the UK.
Reasons why you should buy Toyota Yaris
The Toyota Yaris 2019 is available in three-door and five-door body styles with L, LE and SE variants. The Yaris hatchback either carries a 1.3L or a 1.5-L four-cylinder engine, producing 96 hp and 106 hp respectively. The Yaris Sedan is available in only 1.5L engine creating 105 hp. The only transmission option is multi-drive 7S. The older versions give the choice of a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission system to distribute power to the wheels.
Toyota Yaris Interior and Exterior Features
The Toyota Yaris went through a complete redesign in 2012, which gave it a sportier look and improved aerodynamics. The new Toyota Yaris seems much more compact and has extended details right from the front to the rear end. The overall exterior design gets further enhancements in the sporty (SE) model.
Comparing it with its predecessor, the latest Yaris has an unusual dashboard, which further improves ergonomics. The gauges and controls are moved back and placed in front of the driver for convenient access at all times. The Yaris features some latest technology and quite a few useful perks at an economical price.
Yaris Distinctive Features
The Yaris comes equipped with all the latest innovations, which set this subcompact car a notch higher than the others did in this segment. The cabin is surprisingly roomy for such a compact vehicle, the road handling and drive have been improved, the interior is now even more stylish compared to its predecessor, and the foldable rear seats can make room for extra cargo. It is probably the only compact car with a 1.5-liter engine offering impressive fuel economy of 7.2liters/100km. Some of the standard facilities include Yaris Entune™ Audio with 6.1-in. touch-screen, AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, six speakers, HD Radio™ with iTunes® Tagging, auxiliary audio jack, USB port with iPod® connectivity and control, hands-free phone capability, voice recognition, and music streaming via Bluetooth® wireless technology. The high-performance SE model encompasses sport analog instrumentation with speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge; LCD display with odometer, trip meters, clock, outside temperature, current/average fuel economy, distance to empty and average speed and warning messages.
Toyota Yaris Price in Pakistan
The exact price of a new Yaris can’t be ascertained owing to lack of official availability. However, a number of used second generation Toyota Yaris cars are available throughout the country starting from PKR 10,000,000. The Toyota Yaris 2019 price is around PKR 2,500,000.
In Pakistan, the compact family cars competing directly with the Toyota Yaris include the Nissan March and the Honda Fit. As the Yaris is not readily available here, a better option these days is Toyota Aqua, which is selling like hot cakes here for its fuel economy, which stands at 37.0 kilometers per liter (JC08 mode).
Even though there is no doubt in the capabilities of this subcompact car, all good things have some shortcomings that all potential buyers should be aware of. The old Yaris model, despite its capable engine, accelerates slowly, taking 14 seconds to get from 0 to 100 km/h. The somewhat stiff gearbox and the hard plastic interior can put off some buyers as well. The newer versions do offer better performance but that comes at a cost.
