Project Mayhem is taking the off-roading world by storm. E.C.D. Automotive Design, a company specializing in Land Rover restoration and bespoke luxury builds, has created a powerhouse of the Defender that combines rugged capability with sleek, all-black style.
According to co-founder Tom Humble, Project Mayhem is a modern take on a classic Defender 110. With 20-inch wheels and 33-inch BF Goodrich tires, skid plates, and a built-in winch, it’s designed to conquer any obstacle in its path. The all-black exterior, with every surface and piece of hardware painted in Santorini Black, gives the vehicle a menacing, Darth Vader-inspired appearance.
Powering this beast is a GM Performance LT4 supercharged V8 engine, capable of delivering 650 horsepower and accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 5 seconds. Black Brembo brakes and E.C.D.’s own Air Ride suspension provide added control and comfort on rough terrain.
The interior is just as impressive, with heated Corbeau racing seats, a MOMO Nero steering wheel, All American gauges, and black diamond-stitched upholstery. There’s even room for eight passengers, with four inward-facing bench seats in the back.
While the price for this level of customization has not been disclosed, it’s safe to say that Project Mayhem won’t come cheap. Customized Defender 110 builds start at $224,995, and the all-electric option is also available for those who prefer electric mayhem.
